Our claim to fame is having the “un-official” shortest growing season to any known Farmers’ Market in Minnesota. (It’s Minnesota ya know….if we claim it officially, six other towns would also claim it.)
We’re located only a half dozen canoe miles through the trees and o’er da lakes to Canada, so we know a short season here. On the positive side we do, however, have one of the longest and most beautiful winters anywhere.
Foraging and fishin’ comes natural up here, and you gotta check out our “wild” selections at our little farmers’ market. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, June berries (actually they should be called July berries here) and, of course, wild rice. The jams and preserves and bakery items made from these goodies are like no others. Nuf sed, eh?
We’re open every Tuesday evening throughout the entire short growing season. You can find us right on Sheridan Street between 4th and 5th Streets.
